While staging a protest, climate activists decided to glue their hands to the floor of a car exhibit. Only after they crippled themselves, rendering their hands useless, they realized they had made a big mistake, and others refused to help them with the mess they had created.
Protesters with “Scientist Rebellion” seemingly learned a tough lesson about “cutting off your nose to spite your face” after choosing to show their disdain in a way that actually crippled their ability to meet their own needs during their demonstration. Very quickly, they’d realize they had made a big mistake in their failure to account for how their own actions would leave them at the mercy of others.
While demonstrating at a Volkswagen exhibit in Wolfsburg, Germany, the climate activists with “Scientist Rebellion” glued their hands to the floor of the car exhibit. Shortly thereafter, the climate protesters became upset when — with their hands restrained — they realized they couldn’t go to the bathroom. Things went from bad to worse when they asked Volkswagen for a little help.
The climate protesters, who glued their hands to the floor without planning for what would happen when they needed to use the restroom, became upset that the car company would not help them. Much to their dismay, Volkswagen refused to provide the activists with bowls to defecate and urinate in during their protest.
While many would hardly call defecating and urinating into a bowl in a public setting a “decent manner” of relieving oneself, it was clear that at least one protester thought it would be sufficient.
“[Volkswagen] told us that they supported our right to protest, but they refused our request to provide us with a bowl to urinate and defecate in a decent manner while we are glued, and have turned off the heating. People in support can’t get out of the building,” tweeted one of the protesters identified as Gianluca Grimalda.
Although it was unclear how Grimalda was able to tweet while his hand was glued to the floor, he went on to clarify that “people in support” were allowed to leave the building, but they would not be allowed to return if they did, The Blaze reported.
“Just a clarification: people in support can get out of the building but then they couldn’t get back in,” Gianluca Grimalda wrote in a follow-up tweet. “We can’t order our food, we must use the one provided by Wolkswagen [sic]. Lights off. Random unannounced checks by security guards with bright torches. Police just came in.”
Meanwhile, outside the center, additional protesters raised a banner, vandalized windows, and threw red paint, apparently symbolizing blood, on the steps of the pavilion as seen in the video footage below.
Of course, with every protest comes demands, and the point of this one wasn’t to beg for bowls to contain their bodily excretions. Instead, the protesters were there to insist the German government lower the speed limit to 100 km per hour (about 62 miles per hour), among other demands. According to one of the scientists, identified as Marta Matos, climate change was leading to floods and storms, and she said some regions of the world would probably become uninhabitable in the years to come because of global warming.
However, rather than have their concerns heard and seriously considered, the protesters were mocked and ridiculed on social media for not planning ahead to meet their defecatory needs. For people who are claiming to be thinking ahead about the future of us all, these activists sure fell short in thinking far enough ahead to meet their own basic needs. If you’re going to protest, plan it well. Failure to do so won’t help you in gaining support for your cause, but it can make you a laughing stock.
