This man raped and impregnated his 11-year-old granddaughter. But, believe it or not — it gets worse.
A Montana man has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for impregnating his 11-year-old granddaughter and molesting the girl’s younger sister. Mikeal Shane Pruett, 55, was arrested after the 11-year-old girl learned that she was 32 weeks pregnant.
Sadly, the girl said she did not know she was pregnant because she “didn’t know what pregnant felt like.” The victim also originally told doctors that she had sex with a 14-year-old boy at a county fair — but that was the furthest thing from the truth.
When the doctors noticed that the dates of the alleged incident and her pregnancy didn’t match up, she finally confessed and told the truth, admitting that her grandfather had told her to make up the story about having sex with a 14-year-old at the county fair so he could avoid the consequences of raping her.
The 11-year-old’s younger sister, who is 9-years-old, was made to witness the horrifying abuse before enduring her grandfather’s sexual advances, as well. Pruett was the guardian of the two girls, giving him unfettered access to them whenever his sick sexual fantasies arose.
Eventually, the 9-year-old told her biological mother that she had witnessed her grandfather sexually assault her sister. She elaborated on this in an interview, saying that she would sometimes wake up and watch “through a peeking hole” in her bunk bed as Pruett molested her older sister, apparently in the same room.
However, the 9-year-old girl didn’t just watch as Mikeal Shane Pruett stole her sister’s innocence; she was also assaulted by her grandfather, a man she loved and trusted. According to the 9-year-old, Pruett had sexually abused her by “kissing her privates.” He also tried to manipulate the younger sister into keeping the incest a secret, as he had done with her 11-year-old sibling, but the truth came out because of the 11-year-old’s pregnancy.
After the 11-year-old girl gave birth to her grandfather’s baby, he pleaded guilty to the awful crime. This wasn’t his first time, either. Apparently, Pruett was also charged with lewd conduct with a minor and forced sexual penetration in a different state two decades ago. Indeed, he should have never been allowed to serve as guardian for two young girls, both of whom the system failed on an astronomical level.
Ravalli County District Judge Jeffrey Langton said Pruett seemed “to lack any semblance of a conscience” at court. He sentenced the man to 100 years each on two counts of incest. When he asked Pruett if he had anything to say, the grandfather replied, “I’m so sorry.” Judge Langton then asked him if that was all, at which time Pruett simply sniffled and bowed his head.
In the wake of this horrific case of incest, the sheriff’s office is now investigating claims that Mikeal Shane Pruett sexually assaulted other girls in his path, as well. One of the suspected victims was just 3-years-old at the time of the alleged abuse, according to Daily Mail.
Indeed, the only silver lining here seems to be the fact that this hideous man will spend the rest of his life behind bars, where he can no longer take advantage of innocent young girls. If anything, he will be the one getting abused, in which case, he deserves every bit of it.
