A reality TV star was pronounced dead at the young age of 29. The beautiful woman’s cause of death confounded many social media users, who called her untimely death a “final act of stupidity.”
Luana Andrade, a Brazilian model and digital influencer, is best known for appearing on the reality dating show “Power Couple Brasil 6” in 2022 with her lover, businessman João Hadad. Andrade was a regular on Instagram, where she shared fitness and travel photos with her followers.
Five days before her death, she posted a compilation of memorable moments from the previous months with the message, “It’s not even over yet, and so much gratitude for this year 2023.” Many social media users, however, were stunned by the reality star’s untimely demise after learning about the odd circumstances.
According to the New York Post, Luana Andrade died tragically after a botched operation to remove fat from her knee. According to Globo 1, the twenty-nine-year-old traveled to the Hospital São Luiz in Sao Paulo for a knee liposuction operation performed by a private surgeon and anesthesiologist hired by the family.
According to a hospital statement, the Sao Paulo native suffered a “respiratory event” and went into cardiac arrest two hours into the procedure. During the surgery, Andrade developed a massive thrombosis, which is a blood clot that grows in your body’s deep veins, most commonly in your leg. Surgical operations, particularly those involving the legs, are a leading cause of deep vein thrombosis.
The official cause of death for Andrade was determined to be a pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood clot breaks off from veins in the leg and travels to the lungs. Her unexpected demise devastated her family and friends. “I am torn apart and living my biggest nightmare,” the influencer’s bereaved boyfriend, João Hadad, wrote on Instagram.
“A piece of me is gone,” he added. “It is with great regret and a lot of pain in my heart that I say goodbye to my Luana, my princess, my beautiful… It’s been two years by your side and I have no words to express how happy I was… We built a beautiful story and lived our dreams intensely. You are more than a girlfriend and will always be a partner for life my love.”
Brazilian soccer sensation Neymar also lamented Andrade’s untimely passing, Globo 1 reported. He offered some kind words on social media. “Sad day, with two very bad news,” he wrote. “My condolences to the whole family, may God welcome Luana with open arms.”
However, many social media users harshly criticized the Brazilian reality TV star’s “ridiculous” decision to undergo knee liposuction.
“How ridiculously superficial choosing to have surgery to remove ‘fat’ from your knee,” one netizen posted. “When your life is based on your looks this is how it ends!”
While another added, “That’s one of the stupidest reasons for going under the knife that I have ever heard of. Her epitaph should read—vanity led to her final act of stupidity.”

Without question, Luana Andrade was a beautiful girl with a fabulous body. Back in the day, before social media was a thing, she would probably have married a successful man, had a lovely home, and lived a contented life. Instead, she was preening for the camera and developed an insatiable lust for influencer fame, and she paid for it with her life.
