After being told that she couldn’t get a menu item customized the way she wanted, an angry customer walked behind the counter of a McDonald’s and hit the female employees. However, she quickly realized that she deeply underestimated her female opponents.
As the culture shifts from personal responsibility to unlimited entitlement, unhinged and violent outbursts become acceptable responses to minor inconveniences. Such was the case when Cherysse Helena Cleveland demanded an item that wasn’t on the menu.
While making a breakfast run, Ohio resident Brian Allen managed to capture an explosive incident at a McDonald’s in Ravenna, WOIO reports. The violence reportedly erupted after Cleveland was told she couldn’t get the drink order she wanted.
“I heard her ask for a slushie with all three flavors mixed into one,” Allen said. “Whereupon the manager informed her that they could not do that, and she became increasingly irritated and combative and decided that she would go behind the counter and fix her own drink.”
Although one of the employees apologizes and tries to de-escalate the situation, the customer refuses to calm down. Seconds later, Cleveland storms behind the counter to get for herself the drink she wanted and confronts the pair of female employees in her way. She repeatedly shoves the employees and curses at them for refusing to let her operate the drink machine while the workers showcase incredible restraint.
Still arguing with the employees, Cleveland retreats toward the customer drink machine and fills a large cup with ice. She then returns to the counter and tries to force her way to the back, throwing the ice at one of the workers. It was then that punches started flying.

Cleveland grabs and claws at one female employee while trying to shove her backward. However, Cleveland doesn’t realize that the worker was merely practicing restraint before she finally reached a boiling point. Within an instant, the employee whips the customer to the ground by her hair and begins landing blows to her head and face in order to subdue her.
The employees finally release Cleveland and tell bystanders to call the police. Feigning unconcern, Cleveland repeatedly dares the employees to “call the police” as she walks back toward the dining area. Seconds later, her smug demeanor turns to horror at the realization that an officer is already there to arrest her.
“If I was in their shoes, I wouldn’t have been able to show the restraint they did. You can see from the video that several times, not just once, she physically assaults and or pushes them. And they don’t do anything except for to try to protect themselves. And you can clearly hear the one employee trying to protect her boss as well. I think they both did outstanding jobs,” Allen said. “I don’t see anybody having to take abuse like that. I think the lesson is just to treat people the way that we want to be treated, and I don’t see that a lot in the world anymore.”
Cherysse Helena Cleveland was booked at Portland County and charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault. Of course, she presented an entirely different attitude when she sat before the judge at her preliminary hearing, pitifully sobbing into her hands.
Cleveland’s bond was set at $1,000. She was ordered not to have any contact with her alleged victims. She is required to stay away from that particular McDonald’s until after the matter is legally settled.
The incident embodies the privilege and entitlement that often comes with ungrateful citizens living in an ultra-prosperous nation. With few actual problems, individuals tend to create them out of nothing, taking offense at the smallest slight.
However, if there’s one thing we can commend, it’s that Cleveland complied with the officer instead of continuing her violent actions while he detained her. She may have saved herself additional charges or possible injury because of it. Hopefully, the beatdown she received and her subsequent arrest have taught her a valuable lesson.
