In an effort to poke fun at identity politics, a conservative city council member announced his “true authentic self” — and his coming out infuriated liberals across the nation.
Identity politics continue to divide our nation, creating a hierarchy of attributes that categorize individuals as either the oppressed or the oppressors. Conservatives have warred against this line of thought for decades. However, some have resorted to fighting fire with fire, deciding that if you can’t beat them, you should join them.
Indiana Republican Ryan Webb decided to announce that he is no longer a straight, white male. Abandoning his oppressive biology, the former councilman “decided to come out” as his “true authentic self,” which he said is a homosexual woman of color, The Blaze reported.
Now identifying as a Muncie councilwoman, Ryan Webb explained that he is now an Indian lesbian woman. This would check off quite a few major boxes on the intersectionality list, hypothetically taking Webb from extreme oppressor to extremely oppressed.
“After much consideration I have decided to come out and finally feel comfortable announcing my true authentic self. It is with great relief that I announce to everyone that I identify as a woman and not just any woman but as a woman of color as well. I guess this would make me gay/lesbian as well , since I am attracted to women,” Ryan Webb announced on Facebook.
Webb brazenly took the title of “the very first lesbian woman of color” to serve on the city council. Many expressed their outrage over his mockery of the transgender movement.
“Whew, that felt good to finally get that out there and start living life as my true self. I’m excited to bring some diversity to the county council. Until today we didn’t have any females of color or LGBTQIAPC+++ on the council. I’m glad that now we do!” Ryan Webb wrote.
Ryan Webb posted a photo of himself “before” and “after” his transformation. Of course, both photos were the same picture, poking fun at identity politics. Finally, he congratulated himself on being “the one to shatter that glass ceiling.”
“To avoid confusion, everyone can continue to address me as Ryan or as Councilman Webb. I will also retain my my preferred pronouns of He/Him, however, this will in no way diminish my true identity as a woman of color. I’m excited to be a vocal partner of the LGBTQIAPC+++ movement. Who knows just how far we can take things, but I’m just glad that this is now possible so ANYONE can be ANYTHING or ANYONE they want,” Ryan Webb concluded.
Charlize Jamieson, a 67-year-old transgender resident in the council district, became enraged by the stunt. Jamieson refused to call Webb a woman.
“Start dressing the part full time. Start hormone replacement treatment. Make a decision on surgery. Get your legal documents changed to reflect your gender. THEN, let’s talk,” Jamieson wrote online.
Since poking fun at identity politics, Ryan Webb and his family have become a target for violent threats. However, he promises that he is well-armed and prepared to defend his loved ones against anyone wanting to do them harm.
Webb vows to use his influential new status to promote conservatism, which has only further upset his critics. Hopefully, his efforts will achieve something positive and perhaps start a beneficial conversation on the topic.
