Illegal Immigrant Caught & Released By DHS, Later Kills Father-Of-10

After illegally entering the United States as an unaccompanied minor, an immigrant was caught and released by DHS. He was given a court date but failed to appear, so the judge ordered him to be deported. Three years later, the illegal immigrant killed an innocent father-of-10 in St. Paul, Minnesota, but the system would fail again.

At the age of 15, Jose Orlando Vasquez-Guillen was caught by authorities after illegally entering the United States. Due to President Barack Obama’s “catch and release” immigration policy,” the El Salvador native was given a date for a court hearing and promptly let go, Fox 9 reports.

Vasquez-Guillen was scheduled for an immigration hearing 6 months after his arrival in the U.S. When he missed his hearing, a judge ordered his deportation. However, he was long gone and well out from under officials’ radar by then.

Despite the judge’s order, Vasquez-Guillen couldn’t be found and was never extradited. As such, his short stay in the U.S. would ultimately prove fatal for one unsuspecting citizen. While driving drunk through St. Paul, Minnesota, Vasquez-Guillen plowed into Mark O’Gara’s car, killing him and leaving his 10 children without a father.

Although his blood-alcohol level was 0.149, which is nearly double the legal limit, Vasquez-Guillen attempted to blame his deceased victim for the collision, according to Breitbart. However, detectives determined that the illegal immigrant was speeding when he crashed his vehicle into O’Gara, who was backing out of a driveway.

With damning evidence mounted against him, Vasquez-Guillen took a generous plea deal for admitting guilt for alcohol-related criminal vehicular homicide. For the average convict, the sentence would be around 3 years in prison. However, the immigrant received a privilege most citizens aren’t afforded.

Vasquez-Guillen was accredited with time-served, allowing him to spend just under a year in prison, despite the deal requiring him to serve a full year. He was then deported to El Salvador, per his initial order.

“Vasquez-Guillen pleaded guilty on December 13. Given that he had served over a year in Ramsey County custody, he was returned to ICE custody and they chose to deport him. The victim’s family was supportive of the plea agreement after we met and discussed all of the evidence. The plea agreement terms are in line with the guidelines.”

The “catch and release” policy never should have been implemented. Illegal immigrants kill around 2,000 American citizens each year. Homeland Security estimates that approximately 1,000 illegal immigrants cross the Mexican border into the U.S. on a daily basis.

“Foreign-born federal inmates make up about 25 percent of the total federal prison population, although foreign-born residents account for just 13.5 percent of the total U.S. population,” according to the Department of Justice.

Many civilians, especially legal immigrants, are concerned with the threat of criminal illegal immigrants, but there is also the issue of cost. The same report shows that foreign-born inmates in federal custody alone cost American taxpayers around $1.42 billion per year.

Vasquez-Guillen not only broke the law when he entered the U.S. illegally, but he also took the life of a law-abiding American citizen. Most disturbingly is the fact that his victim would still be alive if he was prevented from illegally immigrating.

Now, a family is left without their father, and the American taxpayers are still paying the immeasurable price for just one of tens of millions of illegal immigrants to the U.S. This should bother you regardless of how you’re registered to vote.
