Australian Miss Universe finalist and fashion model Sienna Weir was just 23 years old when her life tragically ended, leaving the model’s devastated friends and family to mourn the loss of their “angel” following her untimely death.

Sienna was reportedly a keen horsewoman, who had been riding and competing since she was only three years old, but tragedy struck while she was riding at Windsor Polo Grounds in her native Australia on a Sunday in April 2023. According to Daily Mail, Sienna’s horse fell, leaving the young woman with serious injuries.

Following the horse riding accident, Sienna was rushed to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. She then spent two days on life support before succumbing to the fatal injuries she had sustained, according to NY Post. However, the Daily Mail reported that “it’s understood the decision was taken to turn her life support off.”

The Syndey model’s agency, Scoop Management, confirmed the news of her passing by sharing an Instagram video filled with modeling pictures of Sienna with the caption, “Forever in our hearts 🕊🤍,” People reported.

As news of the Australian Miss Universe finalist’s unexpected death emerged, friends, family, and modeling colleagues flooded social media with tributes to the budding influencer and alumni of SCEGGs Darlinghurst. “We loved with a love that was more than love,” her heartbroken boyfriend Tom Bull said.

Sienna Weir’s last post on Instagram — a mirror selfie — was also reportedly flooded with comments as many left their condolences on what would be her last-ever post. “Heaven has gained the most beautiful angel today. I’ll miss everything about you Siena, I love you,” a friend wrote. Saying that Sienna’s smile “lit up every room,” the friend added, “I’m so lucky to have known you. Thank you for everything.”

Photographer Chris Dwyer also paid tribute to the aspiring model by making a post of his own. “You were one of the kindest souls in the world, you lit up the room and the world is a lot darker now that you are gone. Hope wherever you are, you’re being the gremlin we all know and love,” he said of Sienna, adding, “Miss you so much already.”

Sienna Weir was one of 27 finalists of the Australian Miss Universe in 2022, but she was more than just a pretty face. Sienna had a double degree in English literature and psychology from Sydney University. The model previously explained that she was passionate about English literature, namely poetry, which she said was an incredible way to connect with others.

“I love to represent myself in the best way possible through writing my own poetry,” she said before adding, “but I also find it fascinating to find a commonality of experience with people from completely different walks of life.”

Sienna was working as an editor for a social worker in 2022 but had previously told news outlets that she planned to move to London in the coming years. When speaking of her future plans to move to the UK, Sienna said she wanted to pursue her career and “spend more time with my sister, niece, and nephew,” expanding “both my professional and social network.” Sadly, that day wouldn’t come. However, it seems Sienna died doing what she loved.

When asked what set her apart from the other Miss Universe contestants, Sienna pointed to her wide range of interests, horseback riding being one of them. According to a 2022 interview, Sienna traveled to rural Sydney 2-3 times a week to ride and compete. “My family [isn’t] quite sure where this passion came from, but I’ve been horse-riding since I was 3 years old and can’t imagine my life without it,” she said. Although Sienna Weir will be missed by many, we hope her loved ones find comfort in knowing she passed away while pursuing a passion she simply couldn’t live without.
