Actress Alyssa Milano has become quite an outspoken activist on social media, and at times, she finds herself in the middle of a feud. The former Who’s the Boss star also wrote a book titled Sorry, Not Sorry in which she mentions actress Rose McGowan, and not in a very flattering light.

In an excerpt from her book, Milano seemingly referred to McGowan when she wrote, “There was once a rose in my life that I loved particularly strongly… Roses used to be my favorite flower, but I no longer grow them. I’ve been pricked too many times.” The actresses, both of whom have a flare for the dramatic, starred as half-sisters Paige and Phoebe on the popular WB television series Charmed from 2001 to 2006.

When Twitter user @Charmed_Reunion tweeted the excerpt reportedly referring to McGowan, she fired back in a tweet. The Grindhouse star kept her response simple yet blunt: “What a f***ing douche.” But, that’s not all. McGowan pointed to Alyssa Milano’s #MeToo activism which she claimed made her a “f***ing fraud.”

Back in 2018, McGowan appeared on Nightline and was one of the first actresses to go on the record to accuse Harvey Weinstein of rape. From McGowan’s interview sprung the popular #MeToo movement, which the actress has since disavowed claiming it was co-opted by powerful players in Hollywood and Washington D.C. for all of the wrong reasons.

McGowan believed Milano’s #MeToo activism was a fraud for two reasons. One, she is married to David Buguliari who works for the Creative Artists Agency, which McGowan said was “part of the pimp problem” of enabling abusers in Hollywood. Secondly, McGowan blasted Milano’s support for Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, claiming they too were part of the problem.

According to the Daily Mail, “Back in August of 2020, McGowan and Milano had a very public falling out after McGowan called the Who’s The Boss actress a ‘fraud’ and accused her of hijacking the #MeToo movement by supporting then-presidential candidate Joe Biden.”

The actresses got into a bitter back-and-forth on Twitter, and McGown reserved special criticism for the Democratic Party, which she accused of doing nothing to help lift up minority communities and the poor. Although McGowan did not support Donald Trump, she saw Milano’s support of Joe Biden and the Democrats as a betrayal, claiming they had also co-opted the #MeToo movement as their own.

McGowan began a series of tweets alleging that Milano scammed the #MeToo movement from its creator Tarana Burke while also saying she created a “toxic” work environment on the set of Charmed with her diva-like behavior. “You stole #metoo (a brilliant communication tool, not a movement) from Tarana [Burke]. You co-opted my movement, the Cultural Reset, for fame, jealous of me for outing my rapist. You made 250k per week on Charmed,” McGowan posted.

McGowan wasn’t finished blasting her former costar. “You threw a fit in front of the crew, yelling, ‘They don’t pay me enough to do this shit!’ Appalling behavior on a daily. I cried every time we got renewed because you made that set toxic AF. Now, get off my coattails you f*cking fraud,” McGowan declared. At the time, Milano was heavily campaigning for Joe Biden and responded to McGowan by posting a 26-tweet thread listing Democrats’ achievements.

That’s when McGowan responded to Milano with a scathing personal analysis of the Democrats after Biden claimed then-President Donald Trump had “cloaked America in darkness for much too long.” McGowan took to social media and tagged her former costar, posting, “You are the season of darkness @JoeBiden @dnc. You are monsters. You are frauds. You are the lie,” she wrote.

McGowan continued to blast Milano’s support for the Democrats. “What have the Democrats done to solve ANYTHING?” McGowan wrote. “Help the poor? No. Help black & brown people? No. Stop police brutality? No. Help single mothers? No. Help children? No. You have achieved nothing. NOTHING. Why did people vote Trump? Because of you motherf**kers.”

At every turn, it seems that McGowan is there to call out Milano. It makes you wonder if there’s more to this Charmed feud than meets the eye. One thing is true, Rose McGowan was one of the first women to come forward and expose Harvey Weinstein, and when she saw the #MeToo movement blow up into something that politicians used to pander to the public, she called it out.
