An 18-year-old Michigan man drove around with fake sirens and lights, hoping to pull over unsuspecting drivers while impersonating a cop. However, his joyride ended just as quickly as it began when he tried to pull over the worst woman possible.

Christian Katan Mansoor may have thought he was having a bit of harmless fun when he took his BMW out for a little excursion and impersonated a police officer. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old’s evening entertainment ended when he encountered the last person he’d ever want to run into.

The incident took place at around 11 p.m. in Rochester Hills, roughly 30 miles north of Detroit, WXYZ reported. While driving his BMW, Mansoor had used red and blue lights for the purpose of tricking other drivers into thinking his vehicle was a police cruiser. He then drove around the area of M-59 and Crooks Road, looking for his prey.

As Mansoor cruised along the highway, he came across a potential victim. He pulled up closer behind the car and flipped on the flashing lights. However, while trying to conduct the traffic stop, he suddenly got cold feet. Feeling uneasy, Mansoor decided to bail, pulling past the car near Dequindre and Hamlin roads and driving away. It was then that the tables turned.

As it turns out, the driver Mansoor intended to victimize was actually an off-duty Waterford police officer. Suspicious of Mansoor’s behavior, the female officer immediately began following the BMW. The officer successfully pulled over Mansoor and identified herself as a police officer. After he had exited his vehicle, she asked him for his identification.

Deputies say that Mansoor told the female officer he was a police officer with the Detroit Police Department’s 12th Precinct. Naturally, the female officer asked to see his official ID. Knowing that he was caught, Mansoor told the officer he was going to get it from his car but instead sped away in the BMW.

“He claimed he was a Detroit police officer from the 12th Precinct. She asked him for identification, and he said he needed to retrieve it from his car. He went back to his car and drove away,” the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said.

The officer managed to follow Mansoor eight miles away to a trailer park in Shelby Township before losing sight of him. Later, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies were able to track down Mansoor while he happened to be in the middle of switching license plates from the BMW in question to another BMW he owns, NBC reported. After a brief foot pursuit, officers arrested Mansoor.

“Individuals that pose as police officers present a threat to the public and undermine legitimate law enforcement,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement. “Thankfully, this individual was caught and is being held accountable for this incident. But if you had a similar incident with this described automobile or this pictured individual, please contact us.”

The sheriff’s office confirmed that Mansoor was only charged with a misdemeanor of impersonating a public officer. He was released on a $5,000 personal bond. Many have voiced their disapproval of Mansoor’s charge, pointing out that impersonating an officer, evading the police twice, and attempting to switch a registered plate in an effort to tamper with evidence are serious crimes demanding an equally severe punishment.

Sadly, Christian Katan Mansoor appears to have gotten away with just a slap on the wrist. Of course, it’s no surprise that a teen who appears to have been gifted with two luxury vehicles would be so irresponsible.
