Jennifer Lawrence claimed she has spoken to her therapist about having “reoccurring nightmares” about Tucker Carlson. The Oscar-winner appears to partly blame the Fox News host for her family’s conservative politics, and Carlson took the time to fire back.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence sat down to do an in-depth interview with Vogue Magazine. The Silver Linings Playbook star revealed she grew up in a “conservative home” and “thought of herself as a Republican.” However, after years in Hollywood, Lawrence identified as a liberal. “Much of her disappointment was directed at certain relatives back in Louisville, Kentucky, where she’d grown up, including her father. The 2016 election had torn open a rift in her family,” it was reported.

According to the interview, Lawrence discussed with her therapist the “recurring nightmares” she has about Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “I just worked so hard in the last five years to forgive my dad and my family,” Lawrence said about the 2016 presidential election. “And to try to understand: It’s different. The information they are getting is different. Their life is different…It breaks my heart because America had the choice between a woman and a dangerous, dangerous jar of mayonnaise. And they were like, ‘Well, we can’t have a woman. Let’s go with the jar of mayonnaise.'”

While implying her Kentucky family members supported conservative politics, Lawrence continued to explain her feelings. “I don’t want to disparage my family, but I know that a lot of people are in a similar position with their families,” Lawrence declared. “How could you raise a daughter from birth and believe that she doesn’t deserve equality? How?”

On his primetime broadcast, Tucker Carlson decided to address the Hunger Games star’s admission about him being the subject of her nightmares. “When you decide to work in television, you lose control of a lot of things,” Carlson began. “Foremost the way other people perceive you. So can it really be your fault? Are you really responsible if major Hollywood starlets dream about you? Maybe it’s the sexy glasses?” he said as he put on his glasses. “Who knows? We can only speculate.”

In a segment titled “Jennifer’s Nightmare,” Carlson then had reporter Trace Gallagher discuss what Lawrence said, as well as her comments to Vogue about having disagreements with her Louisville, Kentucky, family members over differing political views. “It’s important to note that while Jennifer Lawrence sees you in her head at night, you know, the nightmares when she sleeps, she’s likely not watching you now — but her parents are probably watching you because they’re fans,” Gallagher said.

Carlson later laughed and said, “So she says she has ‘nightmares’ about us. That’s what they’re calling it now, ‘nightmares.’ Alright. We’re flattered. I think it’s the sexy glasses. … Can’t help it if they dream about you.” Back in September 2017, Carlson took aim at Lawrence who said Hurricanes Harvey and Irma are “Mother Nature’s rage” and “wrath” for America electing Donald Trump and not accepting man-made climate change, Fox News Insider reported.

“Why is it as people get richer and more famous, sometimes they get sillier and more out of touch?” Carlson said about the actress’s remarks and joked she suffered from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Lawrence, who has been nominated for four Academy Awards, told Vogue: “Republican had always meant: Why should my taxes pay for your haughty lifestyle?”

Lawrence is also a staunch gun control advocate and sees the Second Amendment as outdated. “People are still voting for politicians who receive money from the NRA,” she said. “It blows my mind. I mean if Sandy Hook didn’t change anything? We as a nation just went, Okay! We are allowing our children to lay down their lives for our right to a Second Amendment that was written over 200 years ago.”
