After picking up a woman at a gas station, a registered sex offender kidnapped her at knifepoint, taking her to his home and raping her. However, he soon came to realize that he had picked the wrong woman to rape as he was rushed to the hospital moments later.

After chatting with Dennis Slaton online, a South Carolina woman agreed to meet up with him at a gas station in Greenville. Believing that a public area would be safest to check out her new acquaintance, the woman introduced herself and stepped into the man’s truck. What she didn’t know was that it was all part of his sadistic plan.

As the pair drove off, the woman felt that “something did not seem right.” Hoping to get out of the situation, she offered Slaton $5 and politely asked him to drop her off at a nearby location. It was then that Slaton took a wrong turn and brandished a knife, holding it close to her throat.

Slaton was a registered sex offender with nefarious plans. Within minutes, the pair arrived at Slaton’s house, where he forced her inside and sexually assaulted her. However, before he had finished, his female victim decided to fight back.

According to WSPA, the woman “severed” Slaton’s penis, allegedly by biting it off, before gaining control of his knife and stabbing her rapist, according to an incident report from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. The woman was then able to escape as her attacker writhed in pain from his serious injuries.

“He’s done been caught that many times, he don’t need it,” said Jeron Lynch, who lives down the street from Slaton. “Very concerned…especially when he’s only four houses down.”

Naked and covered in her rapist’s blood, the woman ran out the door and across the street to the nearest neighbor’s home. Although the neighbor didn’t let her inside, they did quickly notify the police of the emergency situation, FOX News reports.

“I didn’t open the door because you never know what’s going on with that kind of stuff,” the neighbor, Jacqueline Fair, said, adding she told the victim, “we need to call the police.”

Understandably, the woman refused to wait, fearing that her attacker could soon catch up to her. As such, she sprinted to a Waffle House less than a mile away for help. Police soon arrived upon the bloody scene at Slaton’s home before transporting him to an emergency room and leading his victim to safety.

Slaton spent more than a month in intensive care, due to the serious nature of his injuries. However, he denies all allegations made against him, despite his lengthy criminal record, including convictions for sodomy, attempted rape, and voyeurism. According to neighbors, Slaton’s had the police called on him at least 8 times in the last 4 years.

“It’s usually like five or ten people, and they always have their guns drawn,” said neighbor Natasha Manuel. “If there’s been people over here with guns drawn they way they have, why has he not still in jail right now?”

Slaton has been charged with kidnapping and criminal sexual assault. A week after he was discharged from the hospital and subsequently arrested, he posted a $75,000 bond.

Slaton remains mum on whether or not medical professionals were able to fully repair his genitals. However, many agree that the registered sex offender doesn’t deserve to have them anyway.

If he is even still able to function in such a manner, Slaton will likely think twice in the future about sexually abusing women. Hopefully, his recent experience has taught him not to use his body as a weapon or else the wrong person may disarm him.
