A fed-up mom decided it was time to make a bold move after receiving two emails regarding troubling incidents that took place in her child’s classroom. As part of a “surprise” experiment, she crashed her son’s math class, and she thinks it’s something more parents need to do.

Becky Crandley shocked her son when she walked into The Sittingbourne School on Swanstree Avenue in Sittingbourne, Kent, and took a seat next to the boy as part of a “surprise” experiment on an otherwise ordinary Friday. Becky had decided to crash her son’s math class in hopes of stopping him from allegedly being rude to his teachers — a problem she had previously tried to remedy but to no avail.

According to Crandley, she decided to sit with her son in order to keep a close eye on him after the school had contacted her about his “rude” behavior. She hoped that her bold parenting move would teach the young boy a valuable lesson when other tactics had failed the 7th grader, who “had been showing signs of a bad attitude in the last academic year,” Crandley said, according to Kent Live News.

Although Becky Crandley had previously threatened to go to school with her son if his behavior didn’t change, his “rudeness” continued. In fact, she received not one but two emails from his teachers regarding two particular incidents that had landed him in trouble. That’s when the fed-up mom decided to take matters into her own hands.

“It all started last year with his behavior change, it’s part of growing up I think, but it’s his rudeness and disrespect I cannot stand,” Becky Crandley explained, referring to her son and the issues she had faced with him while speaking with Kent Live. “I have had phone call after phone call about his behavior. He’s had an untold amount of detentions and isolations but nothing seemed to bother him.”

When the school contacted Crandley about her son’s behavior, she offered to come and sit with him during the last lesson of the day on a Friday afternoon, which was math class. The school accepted Crandley’s offer, so the brave mother walked through the doors of the school at 2 pm on that fateful Friday afternoon with one mission on her mind, which was doing exactly what she had threatened to do.

“I constantly threatened that I’d sit with him in school if needed, and he always laughed it off,” Crandley, a mother-of-five, recalled. “Since [the kids have] been back [to school] this year, I’ve had several phone calls already,” she explained. “So, when his math teacher emailed last week and said about an incident, I said to her I would join him. He didn’t have a clue, and he was very embarrassed for sure, I was introduced as his mom.”

Crandley took to social media to share her story, encouraging other parents to take a stand against disrespectful teenagers, even though her son was admittedly embarrassed by her approach.

“Today’s children are getting worse by the second,” Becky Crandley alleged, saying she felt her approach to parenting was necessary. “I think more parents need to act upon their children’s behavior,” she added. “It’s scary to think what we will leave behind one day,” she continued.

“Most people know I’m a big softy when it comes to my kids but I’m also straight up and try my hardest to teach them the right way in life,” Crandley continued. “One thing I will not tolerate is disrespect from my sons towards any woman and my eldest has been rude recently in secondary school towards his female teachers. His mummy bear has had enough for sure, my foot is down and I will not lose,” the fed-up mom furthered.

“If only I got a picture of his face when I walked in and sat down next to him, he went so red there’s nothing I can compare it to,” Crandley recalled.

The “surprise” experiment apparently embarrassed the boy, who immediately began to blush. Of course, there are those who don’t think embarrassment is the right approach when it comes to raising children, but for the most part, Becky Crandley’s bold parenting was praised by other moms and dads, who’ve had to deal with unruly teens who need a tough lesson on respect. Did she do the right thing? You decide.
